Coleman brings in the heavy artillery as concord hosts all Sydney affair

October 6, 2016

Coach Coleman fields a new look fifteen, bringing in nine changes to the team that went down 40-38 at the hands of Queensland Country in Toowoomba last week.

Paddy Ryan, Folau Fa’ainga and Sam Needs make up a new look front row, while Ryan McCauley retains his starting spot in the second row. Hit merchants Rowan Perry and Sam Ward return to the back row in an attempt to win collisions and improve our efficiency at the breakdown against a very dangerous Rams side.

In the backs, the in form Jake Gordon returns at scrumhalf, while Andrew Kellaway makes his long awaited return from the injury suffered in our round 2 clash with the UC Vikings. Alex Newsome also returns from his stint on the sidelines. The Rams are one of the most unpredictable sides in the competition. After a slow start to the season, they come into the fixture on the back of an impressive win over Queensland Country, and an even more impressive demolition of the fancied Melbourne Rising side last week. A big forward pack, led by heavies Dave Lolohea and Rhys Allen is ably supported by a sharp backline, steered around by lively scrumhalf Waldo Wessels. His battle with Jake Gordon from the base of the ruck will make for fascinating viewing in what should be a cracking fixture at Concord Oval. Stay tuned for more updates over the coming days!
