NSW COUNTRY EAGLES ROUND 3 TEAM ANNOUNCED TO FACE MELBOURNE RISING

Head coach Darren Coleman has made one change to the starting side that thumped last year’s finalists the UC Vikings 60-28 on the weekend. This Sunday’s clash with the Melbourne Rising takes on great significance after their impressive come from behind victory over QLD Country last start.

Angus Roberts comes into the starting XV at fullback, replacing the in-form Andrew Kellaway who is still nursing the knee injury sustained in round 2. This year’s shute shield season with Sydney University saw Roberts sit 3rd on the overall points tally, two spots behind flyhalf Andrew Deegan. Roberts’ battle with opposite number Jack Debreczeni forms one of the many exciting match-ups across the park, with both sides boasting super rugby experience and strong starts to this NRC campaign.

Kyle Godwin and David Horwitz’s battles with Sione Tuipulotu and Tom English respectively will be interesting to watch, whilst breakdown warriors Jordy Reid and Rowan Perry will lock horns at openside flanker.

Melbourne head coach Zane Hilton acknowledged our strong start speaking to Rugby.com.au this week.

“They’ve been very impressive in their first two games, haven’t they,” Hilton said. “It’s a credit to Darren Coleman and his coaching staff, and obviously Pete Playford’s there adding and enabling that free-flowing and relaxed nature about the way they do things.

“Everything they tried against the Vikings stuck, and they were the quality team last weekend.”

The match kicks off at 3pm on this Sunday in what is set to be a blockbuster fixture at Tamworth Rugby Park.
